My Mom's/Photography group met up this weekend for a practice session at Oso Creek Trail in Mission Viejo. I can't believe I have lived in Orange County for almost 4 years and just discovered this spot! It is beautiful and has such a great variety of backgrounds for photography. The whole family came along this time and we actually got a portrait of the four of us together (that never happens!). I'll post it when the ladies send me a copy. Here are a few I took of G (C was feeling camera shy).
This photo is a good example of what different lighting can do - G's eyes are a light blue/green. They came out so brilliant blue in this image - I did a little sharpening in Lightroom, but that was it, I swear!
I love how all the boys hung out together...and the little ones followed close behind!

Love my resolutions...
In my mom's photography group we made "photography resolutions" at the beginning of the year. My first one was to bring my camera with me more often. I had noticed that most of my favorite images were taken when I wasn't expecting anything wonderful, like playing in the backyard. This past week some friends and I met up for a playdate at Dinosaur Park and I realized I still had my camera in my bag from the trip to my parent's house. Very lucky! I took some photos of one of G's classmates while she was swinging from a tree branch with her mom. This is one photogenic (and sweet) little girl!

A trip down memory lane...
My parents just moved in to a new house. They have been going through things that haven't been looked through in at least 13 years. They came across my doll house that I had when I was a little girl. The boys and I went down to visit as they were wrapping things up at the old house. The boys had so much fun playing with this house. G was very perplexed by the thought that I had played with it so many years ago. It was weird for me, I was amazed by how many of the little details I remembered about that house! G is still playing with it in our living room.
This house just screams the 70's.
It makes me think of the Brady Bunch for some reason, it must be the decor!
Grandma watching the boys play.

The new law in our town...
C has really taken to the Cozy Coupe Police Car. It was given to G from Uncle Jeff and Aunt Jarene for his second Christmas and it is still going strong (minus a few stickers). C loves to chase the neighborhood kids around - he takes his job oh so seriously! Watch out when you're on our street - he likes speed traps!
Here he comes - note the door slightly ajar for a quick exit.
He loves his car, Daddy calls him Fred Flintstone because his feet move a mile a minute!

Hiking with the boys
This past weekend we decided to try hiking for the very first time with the boys. We've been a few times with the jogging stroller, but both boys are much too curious to stay in the stroller when there is so much to explore. I had heard that Quail Hill Trailhead in Irvine may have wildflowers this time of year, so we decided to check it out!
I think passing a horse trailer on the freeway may have been the highlight of the trip! The boys were captivated. I wish I had taken a photo of their faces!
The hiking itself...well, let's just say we didn't get very far. We stopped every couple of feet to check out footprints, bugs, and lots of dirt.
Quail Hill seemed to be having a "weak bloom" or maybe we hit it at the wrong time. It was still beautiful, though.
Since our hike was a bit short, we decided to get the boys some exercise at the park. C loves to swing with Daddy!
All in all a pretty good weekend:)!

My first blog post!
Well, I finally decided it was time to start a photoblog! The purposes for this blog are many, firstly to document the incredibly fast growth of our boys! Secondly, I hope this opens new avenues to connecting with other photographers and improving my photography! I thought the best way to kick off the new blog is with a few photos of the boys! Enjoy!
G hamming it up for one of my recent photo assignments, filling the frame!
